Questions we get asked

How much does private utility locating cost in Dallas-Fort Worth?

A Private Utility Line Scan or Sewer Scope Line Locating is $325 each. A sewer scope video without line tracing is $295. The Full Dig-Safe Property Sweep, covering both, is $499. Emergency dispatch, on site within 4 hours, adds $150. These prices are for residential properties up to half an acre. For larger or commercial properties, call for a quote.

What does Texas 811 not mark?

Texas 811 notifies public utility operators, who mark their own lines, typically up to the meter. Private lines past the meter, like power to a detached garage or shop, gas to a pool heater or outdoor kitchen, and your sewer line, belong to the property owner and are not marked. Those require a private locate.

How do you find my sewer line?

We put a sonde-equipped camera into the line through a cleanout. The sonde gives off a signal, and we follow it from the surface with a professional locator, marking the path and taking depth readings as we go. This requires an accessible cleanout. If you are not sure where yours is, tell us in the booking notes.

Can you locate plastic water or gas lines?

Only if tracer wire was buried with them. Plastic pipe gives off no signal on its own, so without tracer wire there is nothing for a locator to follow. Sewer and drain lines are the exception, because we can run a sonde-equipped camera inside them.

Do I still need to call 811 before I dig?

Yes. Private utility locating supplements, but does not replace, the Texas 811 call for public utilities under Texas Utilities Code Chapter 251. We cover the private lines on your side of the meter.

Do you repair or clear lines?

No. We only locate. We do not repair, clear, or replace lines, so we never have a repair job to sell you. If you need work done, you hire whoever you choose.

Are you insured?

Yes. We are fully insured and can send a certificate of insurance on request. Contractors and businesses can also have their company named as an additional insured.

Do you work with home inspectors?

Yes. We offer white-label sewer scope line locating for home inspectors across Dallas-Fort Worth. We work under your brand, deliver within 24 hours, and never market to your clients. Inspectors can call (214) 817-9895 or email info@wefindlines.com for partner pricing.

What areas do you serve?

We serve the entire Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, dispatching from Midlothian. That includes Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton, Ellis, Johnson, Kaufman, Rockwall, Parker, and Hunt counties.

When can you come out?

We work 7 days a week, 7 AM to 7 PM. Need it fast? Emergency dispatch puts us on site within 4 hours for $150. Our Midlothian office is open Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, by appointment only.
